On this edition of Your Call, we speak with activists about the Poor People’s Campaign.

Over the past six weeks, members of the Poor People’s Campaign have marched on the capitals in almost 40 states, calling for an end to systemic inequality, poverty, racism, and the war economy. Over 2,000 people have been arrested. This Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the culmination of the original Poor People’s Campaign, led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The campaign will mark this day with a Stand Against Poverty Mass Rally in Washington DC.

Guests:

Rev. Monica Cross, member of the Women’s Economic Agenda Project, which demands economic human rights for poor women and their families, and Tapestry Ministry, an adoption and foster care community

Desiree Kane, Miwok woman, multi-media journalist, and teacher with the Amerindian Peoples Association and the Rainforest Foundation
